So far, the Poles from Mariner Yachts have made a name for themselves in the field of small and micro cruisers. The Mariner 20 (YACHT 24/2011 test) and Mariner 24 (YACHT 2/2012 test) are particularly well known. Now, for the first time, the shipyard is also presenting a boat for the market segment with a hull length of around ten metres. New competition in the entry-level yacht class.
The new boat will be equipped with a swivelling ballast centreboard and a retractable rudder blade for use on inland and shallow water areas. This means that the minimum draught is only 0.46 metres and the maximum is 1.70 metres. In this case, additional internal ballast is laminated into the hull. Alternatively, a permanently attached L-keel with ballast bomb and a draught of 1.45 metres is also possible. In this version, the boat is around 200 kilograms lighter than the standard boat with variable draught. The boat is delivered from the shipyard with tiller steering. However, wheel steering is also possible. Mariner also offers flexible motorisation solutions with an aft-mounted outboard engine or a built-in diesel engine with up to 18 hp.
Below deck, the Mariner 31 is set to redefine the space and living space available in the entry-level class. A separate aft cabin is installed transversely at the back of the boat. Thanks to two possible positions for the main bulkhead, the forward cabin can be designed flexibly, either as a separate owner's version with a designated standing area or as an open charter version with more space in the saloon. In both versions, the side benches in the centre of the ship can also be converted into double berths.
The first boats in the series have already been delivered and launched. With a price of 52,240 euros for the ready-to-sail boat (but without engine), Mariner is entering the market for entry-level yachts at a truly competitive price.
